Today, newyorkcityvoices.org would like to introduce to you Does RGB make it worth it? Cooler Master Masterbox Pro 5 RGB Review. Following along are instructions in the video below:
“Everyone welcome back to no nonsense pc. So today on the channel. We re gonna gonna be taking a look at the core master master box pro. 5 rgb case.
This case comes in at about 80. But it seems like kind of a steal because it includes three rgb fans with it so let s take a look and find out when i unbox the master box. 5. Pro.
My first thoughts were is that this case has a very basic design. But that s not always a bad thing. So the master box measures out to about four hundred and ninety millimeters by four hundred and seventy millimeters by two hundred and twenty five millimeters and weighs about nineteen point zero nine pounds with it s mostly steel construction. The case comes with a tinted tempered glass window.
A removable front acrylic window for easy fan installs and feet. That keep the case from being smooshed against carpet flooring. But one thing that i noticed was the complete lack of ventilation holes. So the only ventilation you get is at the back side.
Where the i o shield and the pci brackets are along with the psu vent at the bottom. So coolermaster seems to have completely overlooked putting vents in the top and the front..
But well i guess it doesn t really have vents in the front. But it s only about one millimeter of a wide slot. And there s only two of them on either side of the acrylic window. But i don t really consider that ventilation for your front.
I oh ports they include all the standard stuff like a hard drive light two usb 30. S. Your on off button a mic and a headphone jack and your reset button to get inside the case all you need to do is unscrew the two screws with a flathead screwdriver and then pull the glass straight up. I do like how corsair we designed the side panel and decided to leave a track that the window lies in so no need to worry about removing the screws and then the glass just falling out on accident down at the psu area.
You have a psu shroud. That covers any standard atx psu up to 240 millimeters. And you have a hole for a convenient. Gpu cable routing.
Also coolermaster has included a dust filter in the rear of the case that can easily be removed for cleaning next to the psu area is a removable hard drive cage that can fit two three and a half inch or two two and a half inch drives. One of the unique features of the drive. Cage area is that the cage has three different positions to choose from so that if you re running a thicker radiator up front. You don t necessarily have to lose your hard drive cage for motherboard support the master box has you covered with support from itx to e.
Atx. Motherboards and gives you clearance for cpu coolers..
As tall as one hundred and sixty seven millimeters now the case also comes with seven pcie brackets in this gimmicky peripheral guard. So you essentially wrapped your cables through the holes and the idea is to keep anyone from stealing them now one of the most useless. Features of this case is the single pcie bracket that won t fit. A gpu now.
I know many companies are putting vertical gpu mounts in their cases. But this really looks like this was a mistake that was leftover from the designers. So around the motherboard tray a cooler master gives you 10 holes for easy. Cable management.
And then next to that is an included 120 millimeter exhaust fan cooler master really went out of their way to and support ssds to the right of the motherboard are two removable trays that ssds can be installed on. But that s not all you can take these trays and reposition them to these three areas on the front put one on top of the drive. Cage or three areas in the back. Or just behind.
The motherboard tray as well for radiator and fan support. You only get one option. And that is with everything installed in the front the case comes with three of cooler masters master fan mf 121 r. 120 millimeter rgb fans and these fans don t require a controller and connect to the motherboards rgb header.
Now the fans also support the motherboard manufacturer rgb software from asus asrock gigabyte and msi so if you don t like the fans. Provided you can always change them out with up to 320 millimeter fans or up to 240 millimeter..
Ones. So if you plan to water cooled. The front supports a radiator size of up to 360 millimeters. And just note.
That you may need to reposition the hard drive cage. If your radiator is too wide. But if you move the hard drive cage to the furthest point that gives you about 50 millimetres of room turning to the back of the case. This is where the master box shines as mentioned before you have four areas that can be chosen for ssd storage along with various cable tie downs.
But the best part is the clearance you have for cable management. The back of the case has a depth of 25 millimeters at the back of the motherboard tray area and at the bottom of the case you get up to 35 millimetres of depth which leaves you all the room in the world for a fan controller. So now that we ve done an overview of the case. Let s go ahead and talk about my final thoughts on it now there are some things about this case that i really do like i like that it includes rgb.
Fans. I also like that that timber glass panel kind of sits in its own little track. And it doesn t just quite fall out on you when you under the screws as well as i like the depth in the back of the case being at like 25 millimeters deep in like the smallest portion and then 35 millimeters deep in the deepest portion. Which means you re gonna have plenty of room to run your cables as well as put rgb controllers or fan controllers back there.
And i like how this thing has the psu shroud. Which it seems like most people are kind of jumping on that bandwagon now..
But still not every case has it now let s go ahead and talk about the things that i really didn t like about the master box pro. 5. And that is is that there s no ventilation in this thing whatsoever. So i really want to kind of warn you guys and say that if you decide to use this case be weary that you may actually have a little bit of a temperature rise in your case.
Now do i think it s going to be detrimental to anyone no. But if you re trying to get the absolute best cooling possible and to not have a hot computer. This is probably not going to be the one for you so really i think this lies in one category. And that is if you want rgb and you can t afford to throw down and pay 80 to 100 dollars for a set of rgb fans.
Then this is going to be the case for you and it s going to kind of give you the best of both worlds. But i feel like if you re looking for you know a case that s going to be nice and cool. And it s going to have lots of ventilation and radiator support or even more fan and support. Then there are some cases that are maybe 10 even 20 more than this case.
There are going to be a lot better for that so i hope you guys enjoyed this review and please make sure to comment like and subscribe and i ll ” ..
