” s my v. A dyson vacuum and the battery just died. And i just ordered ordered this one day delivery from amazon to replace the battery and the v. A thank you i like a new packaging on amazon the whole advertising things going on this is a warning for a battery and this is a movie that s coming up one the park.
I guess my kids are gonna want to see this let s open it up have any information. It s just i believe 3500 milliamp battery. Oh mah capacity there was a larger capacity one on amazon. But i saw under negative reviews that because it was larger people were having more difficulty putting it in so i didn t want to go through that so i thought the same standard battery that comes.
It s not my language. There it goes use a manual okay so i m gonna charge it first before i put it on so this is how it comes it s gonna replace the bottom of that one and i suppose. It s just two screws so we ll find that out and that s everything in the back looks about the same size as the like indicator to let you know it was fully crouched and i guess. This is where i ll go inside to make the connection to get the device the power.
So i m assuming does. This is like that that s a case. I m not sure that may be a case totally wrapping around once i take it out it ll just look just like this so we ll see when we take it apart. But for now let me charge off the battery first i ll just plug it in there.
This is my charging location. Okay. This is in there. This is charging okay awesome.
So i just charging as you can see i always charge it up put it in and see what happens so there s two spools. I took all their filters out and the extension out and there s two screws to get to the battery. One is right here. And i think the other ones underneath yes look i believe they take it apart great.
My wife s not gonna be happy about that so that i need to take out so that was pressing this little clip right here that s out there s another screw somewhere around here. I m supposed to take on and the other screws are going to be these two this one and this one it s gonna be that one and these two i don t think i needed to take everything out but anyway i just done clean it out anyway yeah they re all the same size screws okay so now. I believe this will just slip out ah. It is the whole bad room.
I thought. It was a casing. So this is the whole battery itself don t tell my wife. I m doing this on her sofa.
Okay. It s the same exact type of battery all right i thought this was a casing a cover but it s actually a battery so vi. The other battery looks totally different so that s very slight and so okay the battery finished charging let s put it in so. This is the old battery.
It s a more smoother look this is the new battery has crevices crevices and edges happen you know yo you re never tough and let s put it together to see if it s working it s fully charged ing. 26. Volts. And you may not have a multimeter or you may have no business.
Sticking things into outlets right so i caution you not to do it. If you don t know what you re doing. But a good indication to see if the charge is working is simply to plug in the unit. If you see the blue light come on that is charging and then after however many hours turn out it s probably a good sign that your chargers got power and it s charging the unit.
So it s a safe bet that the charger is working properly and here s my theory. I think that in these events. It s not flashing amber for the temporary fault. It s actually flashing blue in these cases.
Which is making you think that it s a flat battery. When in fact. The problem is the sensor that tells it it s it s it s getting too hot. The thermal sensor is is triggering this because there is too much resistance inside the unit aka.
The unit s filthy inside. And why do i believe this theory to be true you ll probably notice that this vacuum cleaner is immaculate. It is perfectly clean. And the reason is i ve already fixed this one this one again would go about getting worse and worse.
It would get down to about a minute or so and die with a flashing blue light on a full charge having looked at two possibilities ruling out the charger. It could either be because the battery performance was gone or because there was so much internal resistance in this unit that it was no longer able to sustain operation without overheating. What i m going to do is show you how i clean this which goes well above and beyond. What s specified in the manual and and i will say to the credit of dyson.
They do call out the fact that this thing should be serviced monthly. Just because their bag free does not mean they re maintenance free. However in reviewing what they call out with regard to the maintenance. That s conducted for these units.
It is insufficient and i m going to show you why it s insufficient how to do it properly and get this device running like brand new. So i don t feel like going through this entire instructional getting covered in sand dog hair and fart dust. So this will work out really nicely. I got to point this out first and foremost because if you re having this issue.
When something is connected in and i m just using this small device in effigy. It could be one of the long poles with with the entire connector on and it s only running for two minutes. And it dies and you leave it alone you put it back on the charger. You do whatever you come back later to run this test you take back off all the connectors.
So it s just this unit and runs just fine for however long amount of time like like many many minutes. The blockage could be in the long tube or the end connecting device right so you want to go through there and check. It may not be in here. This is only or maybe should be done all the time of course.
But as far as addressing this a specific problem should only be done if if it s cutting out after a minute or two. When there is nothing connected to the end of this isolating. The problem to this specific unit and we re going to start off by the removal of the basket. Now the basket obviously is generally is to remove all the the garbage right.
But what you do is after you ve opened the basket once and you release that lever you push down that lever again right you see the basket just attached right. And now this whole piece can come right off for this i just wash it out and wash it out i got one of those nylon brushes that i could i could scrub it out in the sink. I know there s some electrical connections here so when i wash that out you can take some canned air and blow that out and and and dry. It i actually have a compressor in the in the garage.
And i blow that out with some compressed air. But canned air will do just fine remember once we start working on this stuff. It s going to have to dry thoroughly overnight or more until everything s dry. I can t stress that enough make it clean make it dry before you reassemble so this is nice and clean obviously and that we put it off to the side and we re still lockstep with the book right now because according to the book.
We would be right here and then we would take this brush right here and we would brush off any debris off of this screen. And we would go no deeper pretty much it and the vacuum cleaner will be ready for service. Absolutely not and not only absolutely not but if you live in florida or any place that s humid boy you re in for a surprise because just brushing off this screen is is hardly sufficient to get this vacuum cleaner clean. Especially.
If you have never gone any deeper than this and these are delicate items so use a gentle touch. If you don t feel you could do this don t i m not responsible for anything you break bring it to a vacuum cleaner repairman. If you re not capable of doing so i have a small flat head screwdriver. And there s a base right here that i come in to this section.
Just to pivot right. There s a bunch of little notches that go around here right and i found that sometimes i could just get my finger under it and start pulling away at this once you get it going it gets easier don t grab onto any of the soft sections ” ..
