“Guys eb came in here and today. We re gonna take a look at a a tempered glass screen protector solution for the google pixel let s check it out. I m looking at a product. Here and this is a product from so me.
It is a tempered glass screen protector kit that comes with two tempered glass. Screen protectors. Now one of the things about the google pixel and we ve seen this with the samsung line of phones as well is that it does have a curved screen not highly advertised. Because it doesn t have you know the infinity screen style.
But you notice right here put it here in an angle. You notice how this comes down on the sides. So this presents a challenge and this is what i see it a lot on the reviews on amazon. The challenge that it presents is the fact that screen protectors are probably going to have to work in this area right here.
And you can even see it almost by the reflection of the light. So it s coming down. And you see how it s kind of one color here. But then on the sides.
It gets a little bit darker. So this is where that curvature of the screen takes place..
So what you ll find is that most screen protectors if they try to go over this curve in this area. You re gonna find that there s gonna be maybe. A black border to cover up there could be dust that comes in you may not have full adhesives. There s all these type of challenges that curved screens actually create now there s only one manufacturer that i found that solves that and that s white stone.
Where they use that adhesive that we reviewed on the channel. And it gives you a you know from top to bottom from left to right full adhesive protection. So let s take a look at what this product looks like we ll see what s in the box that we ll install it now in the box you re gonna find some instructions cleaning kit. Which is nice because many cases i do get two packs.
But they only have one kit for cleaning so you have a microfiber towel. You have it looks like an alcohol wipe and some dust remover stickers and you have one for each one of the protectors you have which is good because you know if dust gets underneath this one or you do drop your phone and you crack the protector when you go for your second. One you have the full kit to support that all right so now taking a closer look at this protector. This protector is again a full protector.
You notice how it has the black cutouts at the top and in the bottom. And one of the things that you re gonna find with this protector is the fact that it is has adhesive only on the sides right now there are other protectors that we ll be getting in over the next couple weeks. That are going to focus just in the center and we ve seen this even with some of the iphone screen protectors that i have which just in the center. This one gives you the full protection.
But this one s only going to have adhesive on the sides. You ll notice that it has two cutouts on the top and on the bottom that will align with the cutouts of the phone its install the screen protector it s really easy what i ll do is put on a case and i ll use the case as my alignment tool..
Because i want to make sure that it doesn t pop out and we ll see if this is screen friendly or not now anytime. You put on a screen protector. No matter if it s new or not make sure you re in a dust free environment that you don t have the fan going. No central air central heat.
And then even if it s brand new and you re taking off that blastic wipe it down with the alcohol wipe because you want to get rid of any kind of residue that comes from that you know a little protective screen protector that comes. When you buy a the phone from the very first time so now that i ve kind of wiped. It off and i m happy with it and inspect it for any kind of dust and then i ll go ahead and work on the alignment of the screen protector alright. So what i m going to do is i m going to remove the bottom sheet.
And again. This is safe to hold on the sides because others is adhesive on the sides. There s no adhesive on the glass itself so i m just going to hit align. It here and you ll notice.
I m looking at the camera right there and as i m aligning it all i m gonna do is just over here on the side look. And see what the alignment here in the bottom looks like and if necessary bring it down a little bit now make sure that if you do bring it down. Don t drag the screen protector. So you notice how i m lifting it on the sides right there if you drag what you end up.
Doing is you pull the adhesive off and as you re pulling that adhesive. It s it s like glue right so that s what adhesive is but as you pull it what ends up happening is you stretch the adhesive and it loses its tackiness..
So you don t want to pull down to adjust you notice how i lifted it up you ll want to lift it to adjust just to make sure that this thing is centered so i m looking at you know how much space. I have on the bottom versus. How much space. I have here in the top because as i switch from cases.
My cases may have different thicknesses on the sides and i want this to be as case friendly as possible and that s going to be based on my alignment so once i m comfortable with that i m gonna just inspect this one more time look where the camera is look at my gap here so i m looking at this gap right here and then i m gonna look at what kind of gap. I have down here and you ll notice it seems like there s more of a gap. So i m gonna lift and then i m gonna bring it down just a little bit more so right around there so i m looking at my gap. Here and i m gonna look at my gap over here and if i m comfortable that i m just gonna rest it so now let me show you what i ended up with so try to line it as best as i could right on the sides and here on the top and i have healthy gap.
There healthy gap. There and now that i m happy with it what i m going to do is i m going to do one of these things press it down that s going to seal. It and then i m gonna come over on the sides just like this all right now. This is gonna do two things for you it is some screen protectors when you install them you hear quickie sound on the sides.
And that s because when you are either the screen. Protector is defective doesn t have enough adhesive or as you were laying it down you were shifting it as i described so that adhesive the glue was kind of like stretched. So i m pushing it don t hear any clicky sounds. Which is good now because this isn t a full adhesive meaning that the inside of the screen protector.
This area here doesn t have glue one of the things that if this does get wet it will get some adhesive on the bottom or i m sorry water underneath. But again it s not a full body pieceof..
But this is still going to be a good solution for you so let me go ahead and power this thing up and we ll take a look at it so you can see what the screen looks like responsiveness is still still good right don t feel any areas that could be lacking responsiveness. Yeah. No everything looks good and you re going to get two four now we re going to be getting other screen protectors to look on the channel and these may be full adhesive ones about what will end up happening. Because of that curvature that i just described at the very beginning.
What we ll find is more and more those screen protectors are not going to have the sides go down as far as this one does so when you look at this one you can see i put the sun camera right there you see how it s actually going from side to side now one of the things that this screen protector. Inherently is going to have is you will run into some dust accumulating here on the side and it may show up on the side. But again that s the nature of curved glass and curved glass protectors. So if you ask me is this i buy again.
I would say that it fits the profile of screen protectors that have to deal with curved screens. However there s only film protectors. Which are not glass or screen protectors that have the center. Only or white stone.
That is going to solve that problem so hopefully. This helps you with your buying decisions as you look at screen protectors not just this one that we just reviewed.
