And you right click you have to option insert a comment or insert a note so this may throw you off a little but especially if you are an excel user because in excel you only have the functionality to insert a note what the note does and i have one here already is it just gives you a way to further explain what in the cell. Maybe you want to write a note to yourself to remember somethig or to someone else.
But the data doesn t really belong inside the cell metadata. If you will but the comment functionality is somewhat of a new concept at least. It s new to me in spreadsheets and it s most usable in a mult user context..

If you re sharing this with someone else especially someone else that is going to edit. It the comment can be used like this say someone puts. I think it should be a rowboat. But i m not sure so instead of just changing.
It i m going to insert a comment just going to hit comment that send out the suggestion that maybe it should be rowboat. I have another browser open. I m going to switch over to it in that account..

I m also looking at this spreadsheet this pink outline is actually me on the other account. I left my cursor in the pink highlighted cell that really doesn t have anything to do with comment but if i go here and i see i ll say i go in here and change it to row boat. If i go back to the original account from which i entered that message. I go in here the next day and see that this person updated.
It i forget what it was so i see so they updated. It and look they did so at this point. I can hit resolve and that makes that message go away..

There is a pane that you can get on the right hand side. Let s see if i can open. It and put it in the view of the screen that shows you the history of the comments. So that s also super helpful to summarize if it s just you and you want it to remain simple use notes.
If there s more than one person. Any you need more functionality. Use comments..

The comments also send out e mails. So if i checked my e mail after i did this. I am going to get summaries of the comments. I hope you find that useful ” .
