how to get people to listen to my music This is a topic that many people are looking for. newyorkcityvoices.org is a channel providing useful information about learning, life, digital marketing and online courses …. it will help you have an overview and solid multi-faceted knowledge . Today, newyorkcityvoices.org would like to introduce to you HOW TO GET PEOPLE TO ACTUALLY LISTEN TO YOUR MUSIC – YouTube. Following along are instructions in the video below:
“What is up everybody i am. Jordan baywood. And this is a music marketing channel channel for growing artists that are looking to collab network and build real relationships and sure if you haven t joined our disc or it s our artist community. There s about a hundred and seventy people in there right now other artists they re looking to collab learn.
And today. I want to make a video about why nobody is listening to i made a little slideshare just so i can you know remember some of the stuff and go on like a list order to help better educate you guys on what i m learning. So i get a lot of questions of this like people are like i want to quit. I want to you know i don t want to make music anymore.
Because nobody s listening to me is it because i m bad as we know it in today s age. It s not really about quality obviously quality is a huge part that s a huge deal to me. But as we see what the marketing. There s so many things blown up that are trash.
I mean look at bad bobby look at she turned into. She was a social media icon. She got famous and then the labels just squeezed her they re gonna squeeze her they know she s not gonna last she s not a real artist. But they turned her into one so we know that you know it s bigger than music is is people not listen to you because it s trash well maybe maybe.
But let s go on so. I i have like five steps. I have four steps and then a whole page of resolutions to make to this so let s get to it you re not releasing your catchy music yes. So it s either sounding.
Too similar like like everybody else. I was just having a conversation with my one buddy well a couple people and the problem with a lot of these type beat producers and looking up a how to sound like louis kai s you know how to mix my vocals. Like louis guys how to make a beat like louis guys their problem. With that is everybody starts to sound the same and nothing becomes original.
So why would i why would i you know take the time out of my day to listen to you that is trying to sound like a little skies. When i can just listen a little skies. You know what i mean so that s the problem stop looking up youtube tutorials. How to be like this person.
How be like that person like i don t even want to release marketing videos and how to market yourself like that person everybody has to do it differently. We re original creatures. We can t just do all the same things wack beat choice or wack production like i said if you re just purdue. If you re just copying off other people s.
Stuff and you re just finding the you know a beat that has 500000 views on youtube. You know i mean people downloaded that beat off youtube converter for free and probably put that on their spotify as if it s theirs. Which is illegal. But i m a lot of people have that low quality mixing.
If you re not paying for mixing. I highly says you do it like personally a lot of people that s one where i make most of a living app off of i mix a lot of you know vocals to a one track. I make i produce a lot of exclusives for a lot of people and my biggest thing i ve been doing it for you know three years mixing is my biggest thing i want to make sure things sound perfect and loud and proud and all the audios perfecto. So if you re not like going.
The extra step in making quality mixing mixing is one of the most essential steps. You i can literally take a terrible song and turn it to a good song. I can t turn into amazing song. But you know if it was a good song.
We can turn it into a great song you know what i mean so yeah production wise you re just using the same for producer. Stop using the most popular loops out there stop buying. Metro boomin zkk. It like what i don t even get why people do that so you know what it s the problem of you know everybody s trying to do the same thing because it s in style and right now.
It s dope to do that and a lot of you i see this with a lot a lot. A young artist and a lot of artists my age. I m. 21.
Yeah. I believe or not but we re all trying to sound the same when we got to stop that we got to stop that guys we have to figure out how to be original and you know what s gonna take a while if you re patient it will happen. But if you re not patient then keep doing you re doing because nobody s gonna listen your music so number two you re not marketing yourself correctly this is the second biggest problem. I see are you posting video content of your stuff.
You know cool videos of you in the studio with your beatle your song overlay are you going that extra mile to make the content word you know what bigger artists aren t doing you know bigger art or followed their footsteps on like you know try to be what are they doing. That s right what are they doing that like got them bigger well. I know for a fact. It s video content video content just keeps going up you know posting a picture of your of your cover art you have to have some sort of influence to do that to get people to care and to click the link in your bio.
All your posting about it too much when you post about it too much you re just putting your you know your links everywhere. What you re doing is you re getting people not to care about it. Even more just like we want what we can t have in a way like when i let s say for example a girl like just is too easy for you you might not even like her anymore. You know so you re posting about too much it s gonna get annoying and nobody s gonna really care that much knowing when to market it you know i see a lot of people marketing their songs two months before they release it i don t understand that like stop that like nobody cares oh i m gonna release your song okay if you re gonna show snippets hundred percent but if you re gonna talk about it screw that talk like nobody wants to hear about that but i mean that s not a big problem.
But it s kind of annoying when you hear someone i m gonna drop a song and this song in three months. Okay all right glad happy for you i mean if you re gonna do that at least say you re fine trying to find your sound. And you re trying to get the perfect or something like that then it s nice to do it wait for. But a lot of people are stopping marketing their songs after they posted they think it s just like out there because they ve heard it so much the world doesn t know your song so you can keep remarking in different ways than on different ways that you learn influencer marketing is really good you should get.
Ten of your friends or your artist buddies. This is why our artist community is you know great because you can you know dm. Ten of them put them in a group chat. And say hey i have this single coming out.
I was wondering if you guys could post a 10 second clip on your ig story of you listening to it and then when you do that we will all do the same for you guys. And we ll just make a little team effort out of it that s influenced rats. You re getting other people. With the following.
Doesn t matter. How big or small and you re having them post your content in a genuine way now don t get people. If let s say you produce hard trap. And you re getting people that listen a country don t do that you don t need to do that no i mean target.
The correct people who are inputting a group to throughout who you want to influence of it obviously if you re small. You re gonna have to work with smaller influencers people your size um. But it doesn t hurt to ask and if you re not spending money on yourself. If you re not putting ads behind your instagram post.
You know local ads and stuff for five bucks a week then you re not gonna grow you re truly not gonna grow you re not gonna raise that awareness because you have to put money oops. My bad you have to put money behind your your music in your business. It s a business let s think about like that if you think you can do it for free like you can get free mixing and free cover art free marketing. You re in you re in fantasy war up you re in fantasy world.
They re like yeah. I don t know what to tell you that s terrible and link tree link trees check out i ll put the link tree in the description link tree is cool because what you can do is put it in your instagram website. And your twitter website or just. The link where link is and when they click on it they can pull up your soundcloud your spotify your twitter or you can pull up on any of that so just type in link tree calm actually i m after this video.
It s a really good way just to keep so you know what if someone doesn t have spotify worth to have apples. So they you know it it creates. Though tension there so that s a good way to you know get people to more people to listen your music because if they see or if they click on your instagram profile and they see a soundcloud but they don t like soundcloud or use soundcloud. They re not gonna click it.
But if they saw it apple music and they had app. The music they might click on it you know what i mean next your customer service is weak. We are in a customer service business. I hope you realize this you have to give more than you asked for it s called the value exchange you always give only thing that matters is your potential artist that you reach so how do we take that potential our audience and turn them into a real audience that are ours well how about we damn them first how about we say hey how s your day.
Going. Hey. I like your content or hey can we be friends. Oh.
Where d you grow up how old are you what do you like doing things like that guys. I think a lot of people forgot that i m getting sick and tired of people just hit me up dm and me to give it and ask him for something asking me to put them in my videos. Screw. You you didn t ask how i m doing we live in a customer service.
These people that are saying hey man. I really dig your channel. You give out so much value you you really help with me. Or your artist community is amazing or a you re a really good producer.
That s called value exchange. When you re complimenting someone trying to build a real relationship instead of just trying to ask for stuff. That s customer service at its finest and you were gonna go far. If you do that you know cuz.
We re all real people you got to remember that just because social media is the middle middle man. The medium doesn t mean you have to treat people like robots and they you know we can we can sense when people are just trying to promote themselves for example. It s a huge turnoff so i m gonna show you real quick about my emails and some bad emails this dude. Said here s our music video like terrible.
I m not gonna open up any i mean i just did. But you know a lot of people are asking me to put them in their video. My videos look at here s my track. Which i know those dudes so that s whatever.
But seriously guys instead of just emailing people you know trying to help yourselves. Why don t you ask hey is there anything i could help you with i think we can like exchange value in some way or you know i can help you out and then we can help each other out something like that so that s the most annoying thing. That s the biggest thing i very dislike those people because actually it s not your guys s fault. If you do this.
But it s how the the industry is marketed where you have to be about yourself. It s only you know screw that that s why i built an artist community. We re you know a lot of people come in there and just promote themselves. Which they will lew s i promise they will get i don t care about the short term.
You might get a couple of lessons from that but long term you re gonna you re gonna make a lot of people annoyed with you so i just ran it about that yes. But it s whatever i mean value exchanges huge just really build relationships people that s the only thing that matters so community yes. Join you know join a community make your own community join ours you know ours is in the description below. But the down the southbound side of promoting yourself is that it s very inconsistent you were not gonna get that many true fans out of it because like i said people can sniff out the that you bring to the table.
I can sniff out when people come to the discord and just promote their mastering services or their production services and then leave until they have a song and then they drop that in the soundcloud tab like you re gonna lose you re gonna lose. But i understand it i understand why people do that because it s like we have to do that because you re doing at is cuz. You don t truly know how to market yourself right. And that s my job to educate out here and the positive this community is that you know we re building wrote.
It s an easy way just to freaking start building. Real relationships. Today and collab with tons of different artists. There s so many talented artists and this community already and i m just shocked like it s amazing me and you know it s just real people man.
We re all we have all have the same goal. And we re all looking to make a career out of this and make a living off this somehow and the more real relationships you build the more networking. You do the more collabs you do it s all gonna equal up to success and really happiness because if you re if you feel successful you re truly happy i believe and if you re doing what you love and you re passionate about it. Then you re successful and happy.
So and the resolution is give real feedback to others. Before asking it build real relationships with others by damning them learning about them collab with other artists network on social medias by getting involved in conversations that interest you for example on twitter. You can search up music. Producer and you can find so many cool stuff or follow big inspirational music producers and join in on their you know conversations that you know they re sub conversations and stop plugging your soundcloud link at every second cuz ain t gonna work you need a couple listens through it if it s really fire it could work.
But it s still annoying and that s about it guys. And i hope you guys learned something if you did please leave a thumbs up if you didn t leave a thumbs down it still helps a channel. If you re not subscribed. Please.
Subscribe and we ll see you guys next time. I hope you learned something peace ” ..
