“Everyone how are you doing this is mdtech here of another quick tutorial in today today s video. I m gonna show you guys how to run a diss track your windows 10 computer using a command line window. So this should be a fairly quick and easy tutorial to follow and we re gonna jump right into it so the first thing you want to do is take note of whatever drive. If you re looking to scan in this tutorial.
So for most people you re probably gonna be trying to run a skin on your drive that windows is installed on so your c drive. It could also be your de or f. Drive. The drive.
Letter doesn t really matter so much..
But it s important in this case that you do know your drive letter. So in order to find that out in case. You re not aware you want to open up the start menu and type in this pc. You want to open that up and then whatever your local disk is that windows is the sold on there should be a little windows icon above the hard drive as well if you re unsure and that should be your drive that windows is installed on that you want to run the scan with so my case.
It s gonna be the c drive take note of this because the c with a colon. We re gonna be using whatever your hard drive is so you re gonna swap that out and with this next coming part of the video and now that we know our drive label. We re gonna open up a command line window. So type in command prompt best magic comes up should say command prompt directly above desktop app.
You want to right click on it and then proceed the left click on run as administrator..
And if you receive a user account control window. You want to sort yes and now at this point into the command line window. You want to type in chk dsk. So chkdsk pretty easy then you want to do a space and now you want to type in whatever your drive letter was that we went through earlier.
So my case. It s gonna be the c drive so c. And then through a little colon. So two dots on top of each other so two identical dots another space forward slash f then you want hit enter on your keyboard you are going to have to restore your computer to scan an active drive if you re doing this on external media.
So if you have a flash drive or usb stick..
You don t actually have to restart your computer in order to run the skin. You re just going to have to close out of anything you re working on within the drive. But in this case. You were trying to run skiing on the windows operating system.
You can t actually be on the windows operating system. It can only scan. It can t actually repair so you re gonna have to close out of any open programs or applications. You have right now and once you ve done that you want to hit the y key on your keyboard.
And then once you have typed in y hit..
Enter and then it will begin checking your desk. Once you restart your computer. And that s pretty much it guys. So again type y hit enter on your keyboard and then restart your computer and then hopefully your prom should be resolved it doesn t necessarily mean it s gonna resolve all of your prawns.
