It s hard to go i m uncomfortable going i don t know anyone who might even go with so i m feel very qualified to talk about this because i have gone to entire countries by myself in the last couple years show up the magic tournaments alone go to various events alone.
Farm. Volunteer dance classes pickup basketball going alone to pick up basketball. When you know no one. And it s an angry game that can be hard going to parties that i m invited to just showing up right stuff.
Like that various various things organization meetups. A toastmasters a crossfit. I ve gone to so many things alone and it started off very very big challenge to me one of the examples of swing dance. Which i just went to last night really really fun i m starting to get the hang of it and it s fun to dance.
It s a skill that i wanted. But it was really really hard to go to at first monday night. Ah. I don t feel like it.
Oh. I don t feel like it. Oh. I don t feel i could read.
I m never gonna learn that way almost a year of that i haven t gotten more consistent until 2017 when i changed the way. I thought about things the first thing is if i m uncomfortable. I m scared. That is a reason to do it not a reason not to do it right we should in order to be brave.
We have to have things that are scary. We re not meant to be fearless fearlessness is foolishness..
We re meant to be scared. But to overcome that fear that s what we call bravery so if i m scared to go to this thing or if it s uncomfortable. I m nervous that s a reason to go if i m not then maybe i should do something that pushes my comfort zone. My boundary zone a little bit more right so do one thing scary everyday that so a little mantra.
I have and i have it up on my wall. Do something that scares. Me today something else here s another another tip for you which i hope you find very very useful to going two things alone is to focusing on the negatives of not going. So for instance.
I just went to a salsa dance class examples of things that i ve gone to alone showed up not knowing anyone not even knowing a person. There i mean. That is something that i went example of something i want to last wednesday. And it was like should i go what if i don t like it what if it s all old people or no one s there or it s just not very fun or i m not good at it what if right instead of focusing on that it s like focused on the negative.
It s gonna feel really bad if i don t go to this especially because this is the first one out of four it s gonna feel bad every single monday. If i don t go i m gonna regret not going every single day especially every monday every time i pass by that place i start doing my start to folk. I m still focusing on negatives. But i m focusing on the negatives of not doing that and that gets me to do it because again motivation.
Strong motivators obviously rewards. But punishment is a strong one they say organisms life forms move away from pleasure and move away from pain towards pleasure and it s more about the moving away from pain towards pleasure. So i positioned myself where the pain of not going to it is great and then it s pretty easy to go i start walking and sometimes my brain is like wait turn around. But i m already moving in at that point.
I m there and it s fun and i like it and this is an important thing as i continue to travel and show up to things and show up to events that it s like well i wanted to go. But i had no one to go with so i didn t that use this trick to go to it anyways number one be brave every single day focus on that right number two focus on the negatives of not doing. It and that will allow it make it a lot easier to do it right if it helps you can also think about the rewards. The pleasures of going to this thing.
