Today, newyorkcityvoices.org would like to introduce to you HP All In One 27″ Disassembly, Change to SSD & Benchmarking. Following along are instructions in the video below:
“So at this point. I have installed all of the bloatware and i have installed installed nova bench. And i have rebooted and let s run noah bench. And see it goes okay so nova bench is finished and it s showing a score of eleven forty nine which is i can tell you very good cpus.
Happy gpus. Happy really what we re looking for here s the disk and you can see in the bottom right hand corner. It shows. A ridiculously slow speed 125 mega.
Second for reading. And a crazy fast rate speed of 656 thats. Because of the intel op team to show you obtained. It s called it s handled under intel rapid storage technology.
So let s just go take a look and you ll see that it runs just as a single disk so under performance here today. Remember you can see status is enabled and it s running it s taking a whopping. 13 gig of the 16 gig. That s there and it s combining it with a terabyte and it s figuring out as we speak what needs to be moved on to the ssd.
Okay so i ve laid this down on a flat surface and i ve taken the plastic off the surface. Most notably is soft make sure that you don t have anything on there they ll scratch the glass. And there s really he had two things you need to know the first is for this particular model. There are plugs here and here that you need to pop out and there are four little screws here that will come up with this allen key.
So i ll just show you that it s pop that in and these just spin out so they re very easy you just turn them to the left then this will pop off nice and easy. And you can see what s in there pop this one out nice and easy there you go very careful to keep all my parts laid out okay. So i m now taking the four screws out with the allen key and to bingo that just pops off okay. So i m going to use a phillips head screwdriver and a little pressure just think there you go you can see that pop up go to the other side.
And do the same thing okay so now i ve got this left aside..
If discovered up it s always easiest to start at the corner. Well not always. It usually easiest so let s just start moving this thing around you hear the clips. I note that this is the very first time it s been opened so that s as hard as it is now let s just take a look at the inside.
So as i mentioned let s start with the easy stuff the dvd is on a very long ribbon cable. I just makes all the way back to the motherboard okay. This is your hard drive which i of course. I m going to rip out and toss them to garbage well of course.
I won t do that i ll use it as a spare. But i ll replace it with an ssd. It s your cpu fan. All of your ports.
Memory is under here. So there s a number of points. I should make number one is that you don t have to take off this mounting bracket. If you don t want to it this mounting bracket is attached just to this heat cowling and if you pull off the heat.
Cowling well this just comes with it it s not bolted down into the system. The second thing. That s important is that the hard drive is really just held in by that screw there you don t have to pull any of this off. If you just want to change the hard drive so that s easy enough to do pop that screw at the back slide this out lift it up pop off the sata connector and you re on your way.
And the last thing. I want to point out is at the start. I was showing you that you don t unscrew the little screws here you just turn them a quarter turn and a half turn you ll hear a pop and that s because that s what it is that s because that s what it is right there okay. And there s also a screw.
There which i pulled out and then you can see here that the mount is hooked in so we just slide it out of it there we go..
And it just pops up nicely. Easy peasy stuff so i ve got that out now i m just gonna pop that sata connector off so where there it is i ve got the sata connector off then the housing came right off. And there s the very crappy hard drive so you can see if the single platter. So it s very light that you don t really care though it s a not a laptop but i m gonna sub in a an ssd so hp has thought this through a little more and they ve developed this chassis for more than one type of hard drive.
Which is nice so take a look at this if i take my heartache. My ssd and i put it in the chassis. You ll see that they put screw holes on the top which is quaint. So let me just get that screen.
And my screw holes will line up in just a second here. There they are so i m going to now screw this down and then reconnect it all okay so i ve screwed that in with three screws. Know something note that the screws that ship with are very heavy thread and you need a fine thread for this so. I didn t have to change it for other screws now practically speaking.
It s an ssd it doesn t even need to be screwed down at all if you re really in a panic. You could just leave it in there loose. It s not like it s gonna go anywhere. And there s no moving parts so in a cage.
There s really nothing to worry about that means had its bad form and you really shouldn t. But you could if you were in a hurry. So okay. So let s just connect this back up now some point do like this back in there we go slide.
It in i ll put that screw in well let s put the sata connector back on there we go. And i ll put that screw in there and you start at the top and you fold. It down towards the bottom you just go around and you push it i ll ready clack this down here crack a bunch of times. There we go and it s good no put the stand back on and i m gonna fire it up okay so here we are at the same hp 27 inch all in one.
I ve swapped out the spinning disc and i ve added in a small 240 gig ssd..
It s actually quite old and it s still a sata connected one so it shouldn t be dramatic. But let s just see what the test results are start test. I can tell you from just boot up and running it the machine is night and day so while the octane memory with the spinning disk does help actually quite dramatically. So it doesn t hold a candle to just having a full ssd.
So let s see what the results are here okay. So here are the results as you can see the score 1156 fine everything else is roughly the same. But look at that rate speed. Difference.
Now. The read speed is slower. And that s because i have not set this set of d ssd to work with octane. If i did the read speed would be even faster read speed would be up around 650 mark.
But i m just trying to say just straight. Comparison of ssd on a sata bus compared with a spinning disk on the side of bus. And obtained you can see the write speed is an t really tell three minutes do you feel like we need another one or should we just play like more oh just keep two or do it you know i like it. What are we doing again that s a great question.
I think these guys are just bad. There s this really bad super necessary you re totally lagged. Oh. We can tell you can be able to tell here that was the worst job ever people we we can there s happy happy the game left alright good challenge dude.
I could easily get that if i just say they re just like enjoying the moment. Oh watch it bounce like this it s just going across and watch. It s like oh my goes out it goes out alright stick with it stick with it we need this impossible. We can score.
Yeah. Oh okay okay how much time a minute. We re good. Disappointed.
We re not gonna lose all right all right i got this yep. I got it i got it all right there we go. That s another goal nice job dude nice job. Let s go as i said.
I m just gonna chill with it i knew he was gonna he didn t hit that but it what s that s amazing that s a that s a. 10k. Video. Right there that s a.
10000. K. Video. Yeah.
10000. Views. All you re getting on that. Oh.
I can make it funny tip 9 losses you got one win congrats. ” ..
