“What we are pretty confident. They ve made this then you p10 one of the the best smartphones you can buy why else will they re priced. At 650 euros 600. Pounds.
The same price as the google pixel or iphone. 7. But does it really compete give it a big upgrade over the p9 from last year. And is it worth buying by now.
I think hall we had seriously up their game over the past couple of years. The p9 and the mate line with two of my favorite phones from 2016. And while on the face of it the p10 only looks to be a bit of a minor facelift a slight evolution of last year s p9. It s actually a significantly better.
Phone thanks to the. Layers. Software including android. 7 and emu.
Ice. 51. A. Much faster curing line 60 processor.
A reposition home button. And fingerprint reader. Which is on the front now rather than the back a bigger battery life and also an updated version of their fancy like it engineered dual camera setup. These will add up to make the p10 a much better phone and even convinced me to jump ship for my galaxy s7.
I m now using this as my main phone. Although whether i continue to use it when the s8 comes out in late april. We ll have to wait and see i think the p10 looks and feels great in the hand. But there s no denying its similarities to the iphone 7 thanks to the less than 7 millimeter.
Thick metal body rounded corners and even the antenna on the bottom curves in the same way as the iphone 7. But that s no bad thing iphone 7 looked great i think the p10 looks great and i do quite like this contrasting matte versus glossy black on the back. It s also available at whole range of colours that something quali. We re really bigging up this year.
Including a greenery green dazzling blue both of which have slightly strange plasticky textures..
I ve got a big span. If i m honest when i use them at mwc when they launched the p term to me the black or the silver or the gold. I ll pull your best bet. But as comfortable as it is to hold it is quite slippery again like the iphone.
So you may want to put a case on it it s also not waterproof unlike a lot of the competition. So be careful we don t drop it down the. Toilet the p10 has a 51 inch 1080p screen. Which looks fantastic and it s seriously bright too this thing can push out up to 500 nits.
So you going to have any trouble using this outside in bright sunlight. And it colors a vibrant. They really pop out of the screen on the ips lcd display although you won t get quite the same inky black as you do on the super amoled display you get on the galaxy. S7.
The p10 is also one of the first phones to come with gorilla glass. 5 to protect the screen. So it shouldn t scratch easily. Although it does come with a screen protector already on if you want to leave it the biggest difference for me over last year s p9 and the p10 is that we position home button last year.
We just had the fingerprint reader on the back there wasn t really a home button this year. It s all built in to this home button on the lower bezel. It s so fast. I ve barely ever seen the lock screen on this phone.
It s just as quick as that it s less than a second it s incredible. But for me the best part is you can now get rid of the on screen software buttons you can actually use the home button to go back to open up recently used apps and to go to the home screen basically all you need to do let s say we ve got chrome open. I can hold it down for a couple of seconds go sup to the home screen. I could say open an email like this some spam tap it once and it goes back pull this down go to the home button or i can swipe to the right and it opens up recently used apps initially.
I was not quite sure i wasn t quite convinced about how you saw that if now i use it all the time and sometimes i go back to my other phone. And i think i can i miss it it s actually really intuitive it takes a couple of hours to get used to but i think it works really well and you do get that extra bit of screen back. Where the on screen buttons used to be now absolutely using the phone well i reckon huawei software is probably what s going to put off most people aside from the price. Buying a new phone like this.
But the truth is it shouldn t the latest android seb new gart combined with their. Emotion ui. Emui. 51.
Is actually a pleasure to use of course..
I stopped a first stock android like you get on a google pixel but for me this is on the same level as samsung s touchwiz. Although there is still quite a lot of bloatware and random apps pre installed that you have to take a few minutes to reinstall or hide in a folder. But despite that i actually really like it. And there s so many ways of customizing.
How things look and changing things you can actually make it look. Just the way you want combine that with always own octa core carry at 960 processor. Which powers of p10 that s the same one used in last year s mate. 9.
I won t say four gigabytes of ram. The p10 feels super and responsive. I haven t noticed any slowdowns or crashes and every single game and app. I ve thrown is it runs flawlessly as the storage you get a generous 64 gigabytes built in which puts the recently announced lg g.
6. Is 32 gigs to shame as well as a microsd card which supports up to 256 gig cards or if you prefer you don t have to use a microsd and you can fact use a second sim in this phone as for battery lives. Well last year s p9. Was average at best the good news is that the p10 does last a fair bit longer thanks to the biggest 3200 milliamp hour battery as up from 3000 on the p9.
I ve been using the p10 as my main phone for the past few weeks. I found it easy gets through a full day and a few hours into the next with moderate use. But a bit of rationing and using the power saving modes isolate. A solid day and a half is doable.
So it is an improvement over the p9 in my experience and last a couple of hours longer than say the iphone 7 and about the same as a galaxy s7. The p10 also uses huawei stone. Quick charge technology. Which they introduced on the mid 9 to the phone s usb c.
Port. Which means you can get enough charge for a full day in just half an hour of charge. Now let s talk about that camera while we introduce this like a branded dual camera set up on the p9 last year now there were lots of rumors around how much input like actually had or whether it was more of a marketing stunt. While we do insist that like have played a big part in making these cameras.
Which uses two different sensors. One at 20 mega. Pixel. Monochrome and one at 12 megapixel rgb that s boost ease from 10 megapixels last year to produce brighter and more detailed photos well that s the idea at least in truth.
I m not that impressed by the p9 camera and whether happen a few improvements..
It s still not as good. I hoped and phones like the galaxy s7 and google pixel. I still have fared better in terms of camera quality especially in low light and the main reason the p10 struggles in. Low light is written right on the.
Bag. F. 22 the p10. F.
230. Aperture. On the. Web camera is.
Relatively. Narrow compared to the. Galaxy s7. S.
F. 17. And pixels f2. So it simply doesn t let as much light into the sensor.
So like shots of darker less detail and noise iam in good light. The p10 actually takes great photos. It s really sharp colors accurate. There s a good amount of detail and i really like the pro features.
Although it can get a little bit confusing the so many options to choose from and there s also loads like auto face enhancing portrait mode stuff that just in my opinion doesn t work very well so for me as fancy as their dual camera setup. And like a branding sound at the end of the day. Just doesn t quite deliver to the level. I d expect especially considering the price and the competition out there and while it s by no means bad.
It probably is my single biggest issue with the p10 that is except for the price. At 650 euros or 600. Quid. It s far too expensive in my opinion.
And as good as it is as much as i like it as much as i am genuinely using it every day..
Now i wouldn t pay that much for it if a p10 will say 500. It will be much more competitive and far easier to recommend and not only that if i was going to go out and buy a p10 and i really liked these new hallway phones i d actually go for the p10. Plus it s got a. Bigger 55.
Inch quad hd. Screen. Six gigabytes of ram a bigger. Battery and.
Crucially a much better camera with a wider. F. 18. Aperture all that and it s only 50 euros more at 699.
Which i m sure you ll agree is ridiculously expensive. But if i was going to go and pay 650 for this anyway. I definitely pay that 50 more and go for the plus. So the p10 is generally a great phone.
I really like it but it s just far too expensive. I m not sure how competitive it will be against the galaxy s8 and lg g 6i well of course you re making comparisons when these things come out. But for now if the price doesn t bother you i do highly recommend the p10 as i say i m actually switching from the s7 to this myself. Even though.
The camera isn t quite as good so that s what i think. But what do you i can do let me know in the comments below and if you do fancy buying the p10 you can find links in the description below and also if you re in the us. If you re in the states. I don t think the p10 actually coming to you which is a bit of a shame ashley because it s a terrific phone.
I will let you know an update. The description is that changes. But to my american friends. I m sorry i think this may just be coming to europe uk and some other parts of the world.
But hopefully that will change oh. ” ..
