client for microsoft networks This is a topic that many people are looking for. newyorkcityvoices.org is a channel providing useful information about learning, life, digital marketing and online courses …. it will help you have an overview and solid multi-faceted knowledge . Today, newyorkcityvoices.org would like to introduce to you MS-DOS Networking with the Microsoft Network Client. Following along are instructions in the video below:
“Back to the adventure. This is nadam and today we re going to be setting setting up our network interface card in ms. Dos. Nhere.
I have a real tech chip 10100. Fast ethernet controller. This was nreleased circa. 2005.
And thankfully realtek. Still offers dos drivers for nthis card on their website. The model number will be in the description. I will ninstall the card in the pc and be right back nfirst let s take a look at our convictions file.
I have moved around a nfew lines in the config sis file we no longer have a boot option for the nmonochrome text mode because it was preventing optimal memory management due nto the order it was loading emm 386. I have created a new section here where nthe networking configuration settings will go alright. Nthe files. We will need to add for networking.
.
Support. In ms. Dos are located non. The nt server for our installation.
Disk. Under the clients folder. Ms. Client ndisks.
I ve copied these files over to our flash drive. We will also need the npacket driver for our ethernet card. Which i obtained from the manufacturers. Nwebsite so.
The client is going to make some nchanges to our config psa s and autoexecbat files. So what i like to do nis rename the current file to dot back that way we ll see what lines the client nis adding and we can incorporate those changes into our file. The way we want nthem so now we can install the client. Okay so press enter to continue and we nwill change the path to apps net all right so now we will choose the network nadapter not shown on the list below.
.
And then we will need to point this to our nnic drivers folder. And there it is we re going to go ahead and press enter to noptimize for performance and our user name is going to be adam. I want to nchange the name of our computer to asus pc. Those are correct now i want to nchange the network configuration.
So you have to press. The tab key to move to the nbox above. And the down arrow to highlight the ipx protocol. Because they ndo not want that press tab again.
And i can select remove so now that there s no nprotocol there i have to choose one from the list in this case. I want microsoft ntcp ip there we go network configuration is correct listed nchanges are correct. And that s just pointing back to the installation source nfiles. So now we are prompted to restart the pc for the changes to take effect ninstead.
I m going to exit without restarting. So we can look at. What those nchanges were that were made to the config tsa s and autoexecbat file. So it looks like there was really only none line that it was trying to add.
.
And that is a device for the network handler nso. We are going to copy that and we re going to open the back version of the ncontext is and under net. We are going to paste that line then save and then we nare going to open the autoexecbat file. Ok.
There s all kinds of stuff. That was nadded in here. So it does need the pathing also set to the apps folder so ni m going to take this and we are going to add that to our autoexecbat file nhere under net. And there is one line that needs to go ahead of all these nother ones.
So rts pkt dot com. Is the name of the npacket file for this network card. 0. X.
60. Is the expected memory address. Where nthat s going to load a very safe address to use i haven t had any problems with nany of the cards that i ve experimented with so that s good address to use nalthough. There are many others many other places in memory where that could nbe loaded and then we are going to add all those other lines here under net and nfor the path.
.
Yes ok. So that is already there oops net. And then we can save and then we can restart the computer and nboot with networking. Okay so this is saying everything ncompleted successfully that s very good news.
It did up here pick up the ethernet naddress. That s the mac address. The physical address of the ethernet card. So nthat is success.
Packet driver appears to be working npresumably have some kind of connectivity. So let s go ahead and ping nthe default gateway of our router and see what happens all right nwe did receive a response or an echo from the default gateway and that nround trip took 50 milliseconds. So we do have connectivity that wraps up the nsetup for the network interface card in ms. Dos.
We re going to stop here and in nsome future episodes. We re going to do a little bit more with that connectivity nthanks for stopping by see you next. ” ..
