“What up guys gadget friendly here in today s video. We re checking out a a two in one tablet from tech last. We haven t reviewed anything from tech on the channel before this two in one tablet. They have is actually one of a few different flavors also this particular model has been coined the t book 12 pro.
So it s one of their bigger. Two in one tablets. Under the hood. It s running a intel atom v8 ii 300 cpu so it s a cherry trail.
Processor it also has android 51. And windows 10 home edition. So it s similar to the dual os tv boxes that we ve seen. But it s in the form factor of a tablet.
Other specs for includes four gigs of ram 64 gigs of internal storage bluetooth 40. 802 1 1 b g n wi fi hdmi out there s a few other miscellaneous things that we re going to go over to when we get more depth to the video. But that s kind of the intro to this tablet. So to get started let s first go through a quick unboxing and overview of the hardware and included accessories and then i wanted to run you quickly through the two oss and we ll take a look at some of the tablets.
Key features along the way all right. So let s see what we got going on with the packaging here looks like once you get the lid off. We have the back of the tablet. So let me flip this thing over get it out of the plastic and give you guys a better look at it real quick.
So here s a better look now at the tablet. This thing s pretty big guys. It is probably going to take some getting used to using it as a portable because it s pretty heavy and it has a pretty big lcd screen if you look at it. Closely it s actually 122 inches across from corner to corner in the upper center.
They ve placed a 2 megapixel front facing camera and then over here to the left. There is a led light. Which is going to glow red. When the tablet is being charged and receiving power at the bottom.
The windows logo is actually a shortcut. It takes you to your home screen. And android and pulls up the start menu and windows and then on the top of the tablet. This is where most of the action is happening.
We have a micro sd card. Which supports capacities up to 128 gigabytes to the right of that is the dc power in for recharging..
The tablet when it s getting low. There s also a three and a half millimeter audio out a microusb for accessories. And then a micro hdmi out for connecting to external displays on the right of the tablet. There s a volume rocker for increasing and decreasing.
The volume. We also have a sleep slash power button for dimming. The display or for powering. The tablet on or off on the bottom.
There are two speakers. One to each side and then we have these hinges that are just to the center of those which allow it to connect to the optional external keyboard accessory there s also the 5 pin magnetic charging area that you see there for supplying power through that same adapter if you guys decide to pick one of those up. When you flip the tablet to the back. It s an all aluminum enclosure.
This is pretty much giving the tablet. The majority of its weight here and they ve labeled the corners and these allow you to easily see what the different ports are if you re not able to determine that on your own for some reason. The accessories including the packaging aren t many. But we do have some essential stuff here we have the smaller compartment to the right.
Which contains all of your written documentation. This is the quickstart guides for windows and android and also your warranty paperwork the compartment to the left contains all of the cabling for the tablet. So there s a micro usb 2. Full size usb cable for connecting and accessories.
We also have a regular full sized micro usb cable for connecting the tablet to other devices. Maybe if you need to reflash the firmware and then there is the power cable for recharging the tablet you can connect it to your computer or to a usb style. Charging adapter that s it for the packaging. And the hardware overview.
So now that we ve looked at that let s switch over to android. I m going to give you guys to look at that os first so to get started with the software walkthrough portion of this video. I wanted to dive a little deeper into the android os first to give you guys a quick look at some of the apps. That i have pre installed first up is antutu.
This is the only benchmark i decided to test an android since windows is much more robust when it comes to testing the gpu. The hard drive or the network speeds with the n22. The t book troll pro got an overall score of 56. Thousand 659.
Which is very impressive for the intel atom c. 8300 cpu..
I don t think i ve actually ever seen a score this high with this processor. If we take a closer look at these results in the detailed score breakdown. This gives a good idea of how that score was achieved throughout the various tests and overall. It seems that i ve done very well when pit against other popular android devices next up for android i wanted to show you guys some lightweight gaming this tablet does have a gyroscope so it can sense tilt like movements but i decided to connect my bluetooth gamepad instead to test as a more traditional gaming kind of setup specific game that we re looking at is called dan.
The man and on the t book. 12. Pro. It performed great with no latency issues or disconnects from the gamepad during playback to things that i really enjoyed about gaming on the t bolt well pro are that one it incorporates a large lcd screen.
So there s tons of screen real estate for gaming. Too it also has the hdmi option. Which opens up the possibility of connecting the tablet to an even bigger display for some big screen gaming. If that s the kind of thing that you re into when it comes to video streaming and android on the tebow 12 pro there are some limitations.
But it s more or less the same experience scene and other devices that use the same cpu 4k video for instance is definitely a no go and that makes sense since a tablet. Doesn t incorporate a 4k display. Another limitation is vp9 files. Vp9 is the open source alternative to h.
Tv. See that google developed and with these files. There s no hardware acceleration. So it is going to result in some laggy playback everything else i have to read it though from h264 to h e b.
See to mp4 these files playback flawlessly and as you would expect last for cody. I just wanted to comment on the navigation throughout the ui. I do have a pretty big library of metadata and it s still very snappy and responsive when navigating throughout the different movies and loading the different artwork and that is a plus for cody believe it or not so i just wanted to comment on that and then that s really what i wanted to show you guys for android. So moving away from android.
Now we re going to switch over to the windows os so i can show you guys. Some of the same key features over there but a little more in depth to switch from android to windows. We re just going to swipe down from the taskbar up here at the top. We re going to choose the option to switch ls and then it s just going to do the rest for us.
So. We ll pick up here again in a moment when we get to the windows desktop. So for windows. We re going to try and keep this shortened to the point also i first just wanted to touch on the status of the included license.
It wouldn t be the first time that i ve seen a chinese windows based device ship with the trial license. But in this case..
It comes. Fully bundled with a pre activated version of the windows 10 home edition. So there s no worries there next for the windows os. I wanted to go over some performance related stuff so we re going to check out two benchmarks.
But first is called crystal disk mark and i ran this to test the speeds of the included flash storage. Throughout the various tests seen in this benchmark the t. Book. 12.
Pro is able to achieve the read and write speeds that you see on screen here looking at these scores overall. It s obvious they re not on par with what you d see at a traditional desktop level. But for most use cases with these kind of complementary two and one devices. It s going to get the job.
Done the next benchmark that we re going to check out is called 3d mark. This is a great benchmark for testing gpu performance. In this test. The t book.
12. Pro received an overall score of nine thousand nine hundred and sixty seven this is a pretty fair score for the z 8300 cpu probably actually one of the higher scores. That i ve seen from this processor. But again it s nothing that s going to offer performance relative to a traditional desktop.
So when it comes to gaming. I d say stick to android stick to games found within the windows app store don t install anything from steam or anything like that moving along from the benchmarks. The next feature. I wanted to touch on is going to be browser performance.
I imagine a lot of people interested in these two and ones will be using them to surf the web. So for testing. I wanted to go over some web browsing and the edge browser specifically the results to test like this will vary based on the site that you re going to be visiting. I wanted to give you guys two examples to mix things up so we re going to look at a more.
Content heavy web site in the form of msncom. And then something a little more lightweight in the form of reddit comm. So for the more resource. Intensive web.
Pages. The t book..
12. Pro definitely hangs at least. Initially. You will notice that you will have some lag enos to the scroll bar and to the navigation.
It s not as fluid as you would like but after ted time to load and cache. The artwork it smoothes itself out it just takes a little bit of time with the less resource intensive web sites like reddit there were no issues that i could see noticeably whatsoever. The website itself is fairly lean very simple navigation and ui to it so that definitely is helping with the ease of loading whatever s on the page and you can see it it s definitely more noticeably smooth when it comes to navigation last for windows and last for the review i wanted to go over some netflix video streaming streaming netflix and windows is important because it s going to provide an hd 1080p stream. As opposed to the limited sub sd video quality seen in android and netflix streaming video from netflix and windows for me work just like any other pc that i ve ever used the service on the video quality was great it looks great on the lcd screen the colors look great everything was a plus here.
So that s going to kind of wrap. It up for video. Netflix gets the job done and that s what i wanted to conclude this review with so let s go over now my final thoughts and i ll let you guys know how i feel about the t book. 12 pro as a whole alright guys.
That s going to do it for today s video review on the t book 12. Pro to give you guys my final thoughts on this thing. I think it s a great two in one. It is underpowered.
I ll definitely say that it could have benefited from a stronger cpu. But this thing is you know in a certain price range and for what you pay for it you can t really complain. It still has 64 gigs of storage you do have to oss a fully licensed windows 10 home edition and 60. I mean there s a lot to be you know said about this kind of device.
And it comes with the big screen hdmi out so there are tons of other miscellaneous things that make this thing worthwhile. Although it may not be the most powerful device on the market and again. I don t think this thing was ever designed to be a replacement for your pc or anything along those lines. It s just something that you can have as a complementary device to find a little balance between the two if you need to take something with you inexpensive and on the go so that s what i wanted to demo for you guys.
