“Back to my channel in today s of you we re going to be taking taking a look at the brand. New transformer studio series battle damaged voyager class. Megatron revenge of the fallen as far as i m aware this figure is an exclusive as of this recording. I m not entirely sure as of where this figure is exclusive to i managed to obtain this online.
So i presume that it is perhaps an online exclusive. But nevertheless is essentially the first voyager class megatron that we got of a brand new head sculpt and a complete redeco in terms of paint application. As always we ll take a quick look at the packaging. And then we ll take a detailed look at the figure himself taking a quick look at the packaging.
As you can see we ve got a really nice cg render of megatron there with the evident battle damage that he sustained in revenge of the fallen. It states that he is battle damaged megatron you saw a revenge of the fallen. The other side of the packaging has a closer more detailed look at the cg model with the back of the package in displaying the figure in the robot mode the vehicle mode some of the other voyager class figures in the assortment as well as the backdrop and it also states that megatron fights. The defender fallen against optimus prime indicating that this is in fact from the final scene in revenge of the fall of the other side of the packaging states that he is bigger number 31 has a really cool very close up image of megatron s battle discoloured.
Face. And that he is a voyager class. And from the studio series toy line as far as backdrops are concerned this figure comes with a completely brand new backdrop that to my knowledge hasn t been used on any studio series figure thus far. It is the egyptian desert battle.
See that as i stated appeared at the end of revenge of the fallen as always with these figures you can insert the figure into the backdrop for a more dynamics display option. One quick thing to note. Is that the instruction manual is unchanged. Is exactly the same as the original voyager class.
Megatron. As you can see here. The head sculpt is identical to that so they really truly have just labeled this number 30. Then here we have megatron opened up and out b s packaging and has he comes packaged in he s awesome looking robot mode.
This is definitely the more favorable of the two modes in my opinion the robot mode is probably one of the most accurate representations. We ve ever had of the revenge of the fallen megatron and i must certainly say that this is a very warmed welcomed repaint. The paint applications that have been applied to this figure are just absolutely fantastic and that detail on the battle scarred head sculpt is up there with some of the best studio series head scopes. I ve ever had the pleasure of looking at starting off with details of course.
I m going to be taking a look at brand new fantastic head sculpt. The hasbro had implemented and sculpted for this particular version of megatron. As you can see half his face has just been completely blown off and you can see some of the singed areas of the sculpt with the eyeball. Almost looking as if though it is hanging out via eye socket.
Which is a really nice attention to detail it applied a plethora of light of black and darker black as well as some grays in there to really make this look like a very messed up and severely damaged injury that megatron has substandard side is near enough in tact as we saw in the movie. It does just have some singed paint applications around it to make it as if though this version has been fighting. Which it really was when we saw the movie. I think the head sculpt is just fantastic taking a closer look.
As you can see the optic has been sculpted really nicely. You ve got some ridges in there and the sculpt just looks really really kind of painful looking in a way. I m really surprised at the amount of detail that hasbro have put into this head sculpt..

It really does just look like megatron has in fact been made to blow half his head off like we saw in the movie. When optimus reversed his fusion cannon and blasted him in the face. With your own weapon ribbing down to the body. The figure has been given this almost gunmetal dry brush effect.
All the way for i ll make him look extremely singed. A very metallic. As you can see the paint applications here and on the gun do definitely look a lot more i pleasing than the original version. Which was just mainly a bland gray plastic.
As you can see. When you turn the figure around also that same paint application carries over onto the fuel tanks. Unfortunately. Unlike.
The original version. They haven t actually put the copper inserts into the fuel tanks. But nonetheless. They do definitely look very warned and singed as you can see with the arm.
There s some fantastic detailing on that as well even with the fingers. You ve got the copper shown for obviously to show how worn this figure is that the original base color has just melted away. And there is the remnants of a very battle damaged megatron taking a closer look at the hand as you can see all the details from the previous sculpt are carried over onto this and with this copper paint. I really do think it helps to accentuate them and make them look as if though they are a different part of his body as opposed to the original which was the same color as the forearm.
Taking a look at his fusion cannon. This too has been painted fantastically as you can see you ve got this really nice dry brushing effect over the top to make it at like worn metal. And it really does give that impression in hand and i hope as well on camera. The blade here has been done in a copper section.
It does slightly detract from the overall look of the fusion cannon as is a drastically different color than the rest of the gum. But i do imagine. This is probably supposed to replicate how worn out this blade was especially as it did stab and blow optimus prime for the chest with it other details such as these farmer also present. Which is a carryover from the previous model turning to the leg sections.
As you can see here. These fuel tanks here are actually unpainted. Which is a shame. They are just in this gray plastic.
But the rest of the figures legs are painted fantastically well as you can see these knee pads to have been given a darker looking plastic as well as a really nice paint wash over the top and the insides of the treads have been fantastically painted all this really does look like it s very real and authentic mechanical components even down to this section. Here all of the copper is very warm and really does look extremely realistic upon turning the figure around as you can see he does get slightly bland on the back these sections here as well as the exact pieces are not painted at all which is a shame as it does definitely not look very cohesive when compared to the rest of the figure. However one thing to note is they have actually fixed these these are nowhere near as loose. As the original copies were there on a lot lot more secure have transformed this figure.
Multiple times as well and have found to have no problems with the durability of the pegs on these particular armor pad. Very briefly turning to articulation is exactly the same as the previous version. So as you can see the head is on a ball joint..

It can look left to right you can look down as well as up all the way the arms can rotate for 360. As well as hinge out to the sides and also rotate just above the shoulder section. The arms can also bend at 90 degrees. And this hand is articulated at two points due to transformation.
And this particular fusion cannons section. Here the foam can hinge outwards as well as well as you are able to retract the claw backwards. If you wish to just have him displayed with the fusion cannon. The legs can kick forwards that far as well as backwards that far they can also do the splits all the way out as well the fires can rotate 360 degrees.
If you move this section out of the way you can get the leg to bend that far backwards and it can kick all the way forwards if you so wish you can also extend the legs to a considerable degree. If you utilize this second joint and the figure also has a really nice ankle pivot joint as well so overall for articulation and detail. This figure is still one of the best in the studio series toy line now very quickly comparing the new studio series battle damaged make the older revenge of the fallen normal version. As you can see this version is just so much more detailed in terms of pen application not only does it have a brand new fantastic head sculpt you can really see the different shades of silver that they ve used to bring out some of the sharper details in this figure.
Particularly in these upper sections. When you turn the figure around also as you can see the wash here really does bring out some of the more finer details of the sculpt and i also think that the fusion cannon is just so much more detailed with the new paint applications than the previous version. As you can see the brand new battle damaged version. Really pops.
Whereas. The older version was quite lackluster and very boring in terms of its paint. So overall. I do think that this repaint is a very warm welcome addition to the studio series collection.
My only gripe of this figure would be the fact that it doesn t come with dis versions head sculpt interchange. Considering that this is on a ball joint. It is very easy just to pop the head scopes off so it would have been nice to have a more updated revised paint application version of dis head sculpt to put onto this figure. If you wish to do so overall for the robot mode.
I do think that this is a marked improvement over the previous version that provides paint applications definitely does help to make the figure pop more on the shelf than the previous version. Did. And it also helps to bring out some of the sharper details. Particularly the amazing detail that is in these tread sections upon comparing it with the previous version as you can see i just really think that having the black on gold works.
A lot better than having the gold on the kind of gray plastic that they used on this version. So in terms of paint application this brand new battle damaged version wins hands down the head sculpt is definitely a nice addition they could have just given us. A normal repaint and not giving us this new head sculpt. A twopenny that this head sculpt is actually different than the leader class megatron that i shall be taking a look at later this week.
But they had in fact re sculpted. It and given us the more battle damage to look as we really saw at the end of the revenge of the fallen movie. When optimus took megatron s cannon and fired at his face. He s half his face was completely blown off and the injury looked really really severe.
However if i had the option to choose between the original version and this version. I still probably would opt to go with the original version just due to it having a more standard looking head sculpt that we are more commonly familiar with megatron of havoc. If you have the opportunity to pick up both i definitely would recommend getting both as this is definitely a very well welcome addition to the studio series collection..

I will now show case the estimation. Very briefly on how to turn this from a robot into a tank as i did show it in more depth in my original review earning very quickly to the transformation. You just want to collapse these claw sections in on themselves. Just like so retract.
The arm blade and straighten out the arm. Until it clicks into place take these sections here and just pull them forwards. Which then allow you to take this whole piece and just line it up and click it into place and fold up the turret. We are then going to want to lift the head sculpt backwards and pull this section forwards just a tad.
We can then proceed to move the arms in ever so slightly. So that we have clearance to pull these sections out here and hinge those down accordingly. We can then rotate those around also and repeat the same process on the opposite side turning the figure around now. We re just going to want to take these legs and kind of move them out the way.
We re then going to take this section. Here and just hinge. It upwards just like so. But we ll then rotate.
The fusion cannon around so that it exposes this slot. That will plug into this peg. So just take this and move that back section down and tap that into place just like so turn over to the opposite side. Now and we re going to want to rotate this so that this peg here will plug into that slot.
There just line that up and clip that into place just like so take this whole section here and just fold. It back on itself collapsing. It all around the sculpt of the arms. So that it also swishes in as you can see all the grooves on this upper section will align.
Really nicely with this back piece here and then just give this section here a squeeze. What we can then do is rotate this piece around here and straighten out this section and click it in to place just like so and fold. This piece down and slide that section along take this piece here click. It backwards fold the feet up.
If they haven t already done so take this fold down take this piece here and have that sit along there just like so we can then come to this side and repeat. The same process just straighten that out slide that long for this piece backwards of that forward fold that forwards as well and then hinge these back and now as you can see here there is a slot. There that this tab here will actually plug into it can be quite difficult to get that aligned let s just snap that in repeat the same process on the opposite side. It s not fitting and then really now you have to do is take these pieces and just put them over the mouthpiece of megatron and then for the final step turn the figure over and just take these kneepads and just clip them into place under the underside keep the same process on that side.
And there we have megatron in his very cool looking tank mode that we saw in the second transformers movie. Now very briefly taking a look at megatron s all motors. I do definitely think that it is the weaker up two modes. The details definitely are very present in this mode also i do think that the new paint application has helped to amplify certain areas of this tankard.
However certain aspects such as this section. Here in these guns as well as these sections. Really do look fairly bland especially compared to this which has got quite a lot of pain as well as these sections taking a look at the treads as you can see there are a lot more predominant in this mode than they were in the robot mode..

So the nice detail is definitely are very present and correct in this mode. I don t really have any issues in terms of quality control. All the paint applications do seem to be fairly nice and for a figure that is a battle damaged version. It wouldn t necessarily matter.
If there were a few inaccuracies on the paint. As you can see here these look as if though they have been smashed around in the sand and the dirt and the nozzle of megatron s fusion cannon. In this mode has been done in a copper paint. These little guns here are still articulated.
So they can just hinge upwards. However they are completely unpainted. And you can still see megatron s battle damaged face underneath. The tank section figure does roll reasonably well as you can see it does roll on four caster wheels.
That situated underneath the base of the treads. So it does definitely look like a very nice tank mode. However it s not accurate we see in the movie as megatron never transformed into his tank form when he fought optimus prime and the fallen for a very quick. Comparison here is the original version in his old mode.
As you can see i do definitely think in a way that this version does do it better in the vehicle mode. Does definitely look a lot more cohesive that s what we see in the movie. This version. Here does seem to be a bit of a mishmash in terms of colors because you ve got the darker almost navy blue type of plastic here juxtaposed in with the gray in the dark wash especially with this copper barrel.
And this section here. Which is just a complete different color to this piece so in the vehicle mode. This does look fairly cohesive. How it does have some nice deep changes such as the details and the treads.
I do prefer it as opposed to the details in this treads. But personally i would recommend displaying this in the robot mode and perhaps displaying this in the vehicle mode as this is more or less. What we saw megatron look like in the movie. So there you have it that is my review on the brand new transformers studio series battle damaged megatron overall.
I do think that this is definitely worth to pick up is definitely different enough from the previous version to warrant double dipping the mold. I think the brand new head sculpt is fantastic. It s extremely detailed and the paint applications that they ve put around the face really do further help to amplify the look and definitely make it look like a very faithful representation to the movie. I think that the overall paint scheme in the robot mode is definitely really where the figure shines in the vehicle mode.
It s not as predominant as i would have liked it to have been i definitely do think the robot mode is where this shines and we only see megatron in the final battle in his robot form so i definitely do think that if you are collecting all the studio series things then this is definitely one that warrants a pickup.
