” s up guys visual here. But you can call me james and in this video. Video. I m going to be showing you guys how you can make a winter.
Twitter header or youtube banner. So guys as you can see right now. This is the header that we will be making in this video. This is the amount of layers that it does require so it shouldn t be too hard.
And it shouldn t take you too long. But guys before we do go on with the tutorial. If you can leave a like on this video. I would really really appreciate this this header did take a long time to actually make and come up with and also it takes a long long time to make an actual tutorial just because of how many times.
I do fail so if you do leave a like on the video. I would really really appreciate that and hopefully you do go on to actually make this header and hopefully. It s not too hard for you so there are two things that you will definitely need and then the others. I will obviously explain while i m actually making the header.
But the first thing is going to be ferox is a breast pack. I m going to leave a link to this in the description down below and now we have to do is go ahead and click download on that i will show you how to install it later so just go ahead click on the link in the description down below download. The brush pack. And then once it is downloaded just drag it to your desktop and also if you haven t already download the font that is in the description down below.
It is this laser 84 brush one as you can see it is really nice and if you want the header to look exactly like this of course you will need that phone so guys. But that being said let s just get straight on with the tutorial so guys the first step to actually make this is quite simple you want to head over to file here at the top you want to select new and you just want to go ahead and type in the width 3000 by 1000 of course. This is the normal twitter header size. So if you are making a total header.
I definitely recommend you put this size also make sure your color mode is on rgb. If it isn t already and just bump up that resolution to run about 150 just so the header looks nice and crisp. So make sure you do have a plain twitter. Header document open or if you obviously want to make a youtube banner then you can just open up a youtube banner template is completely up to you so once you have done that you want to make sure that your background layer is selected as a black color.
If it isn t already double click on it go to color overlay and select a full black color. Here. And make sure you press. Ok.
After you have done that so the next step is going to be to grab your image. As you can see right now i use a website called pecs tools. It s a really nice website for free to use images and as you can see if i find it here i used my image on this website. So i m just going to try to find it two thousand years later so look.
It s this one here so you can go ahead. I ll leave a link to this in the description down below like i said you can go ahead and download. This one or you can just go on the website type in winter. And then just find your own one obviously.
It s going to be really easy. If you do follow along with my image just because it s going to probably be easier. But of course you can just use any image. You want so make sure you do have this picture just click on it it will open up in a separate tab and now you can just right click.
It go to copy image and just press control v. On our keyboards. And as you can see this will obviously paste. The image is slightly big.
So i m going to press ctrl to zoom out and now pressing ctrl t..
As you can see this will highlight the actual picture itself and now we can hold down shift and make this picture smaller just because it s too big and we want to make it so it fits the twitter header size and the text is of course going to go in the middle. So just make sure your image looks something similar to this of course. It doesn t have to be perfect. But as long as like the row tracks are in the middle of the image.
Then it s of course going to look really good so guys once you have done that you want to go over to the bottom here where all of the new layer icon czar and you want to select this little ball icon that will open up all of these like color correction options you want to go over to gradient map. Which is at the very bottom select that and it obviously will open up a properties page as you can see we don t want to make it this color. So we re going to double click on this and we ll open up the gradient editor and we want to select the third preset here. Which is going to be the black color.
The full white color and as you can see it does look a bit too white at the moment. But we will soon fix this with some brightness and contrast. So once you have added the black and white gradient editor. You want to press ok and exit out the properties.
And if you can see you have made your image black and white. So guys watching i ve done that you want to select your text tool here on the left hand side select anywhere on your screen. Just like i ve done here and then just type in your text. So i m going to type in visual in all caps.
And i m going to press ctrl. A and as you can see that will highlight all of the text and now click on the top left hand side where all of the fonts are you want to search for the for laser 84. Which you should have downloaded at the start as you can see it s a very nice brush font and it does look really good on this header. So guys once you have added in your text.
You want to go over to google chrome once again and you want to type in on google. Images white grunge as you can see you will have a load of options to choose from in my opinion. The first one does look really nice so just grab the first image. If you want to copy mine.
Go right click it go to copy image go back into photoshop and then just press control v. On your keyboard. And as you can see it s a really high quality grunge image. And it s a bit too big so i m going to press ctrl on my keyboard to zoom out and then pressing ctrl t and holding down shift we can decrease the size of this once you have done that just press enter on your keyboard and now you can press ctrl to zoom back in once you guys have done this you can right click on your layer go to create clipping mask and as you can see it will create a nice white grunge.
Clipping mask on your layer. Once you have done this you want to lower down the opacity to 80. And that will be a nice median for the texture. So once you guys have done this you want to go back to your text layer here you want to double click on it go to drop shadow and of course just make a normal drop shadow effect.
You do want to copy down my settings. I have my blend mode or multiply opacity on 100 distance on free spread on 0 and size on 16. So go ahead and copy that if you want but as long as you have a drop shadow effect on there it really doesn t matter. So once you have added that drop shadow press.
Ok. And as you can see it will look something similar to this so guys once you have done that you want to select your white grunge layer here on the right hand side. You want to go down to the very bottom. And just make a brand new layer make sure you select a 0.
Hardness brush. Make sure the size is also on around about 300. And now we can add the black brush effect. So to do this just use your brush tool.
And then it just add brush effects on the right. And the left hand side. As you can see it will look something similar to this and now you can just right click on your layer. Here go to create clipping mask.
Once you guys have done this you want to lower down..
The opacity of this layer to 18. We ll run about 18 and as you can see it will create a nice black effect on your text. It does look really nice in my opinion. Once you guys have done this we can now add the brush effect behind our text.
So now what we re going to do is just make a brand new layer below the text. But above the gradient map. Too so i m going to make a brand new layer as you can see here once you do this you want to go back to your brush tool here on the left hand side go up to the top. It will open up all the brushes you want to go and press.
This little cog icon here on the right hand side. Once you press. This it will open up a drop down menu you want to go over to load brushes and now you want to find the brush pack. I did leave a link in the description.
Too so find where you saved it it may be in your downloads or if you did extract it to your desktop. It s going to be there so just press on it it s going to be called ferox brushes press load. And as you can see you ll get all of these brushes into your photoshop of course you can just delete. These brushes.
Once you are done with the tutorial. But you want to go ahead and scroll down and find the brush. Which is number 714 as you can see they are not in order. I m sure you can change that but just go down to the bottom.
You should be able to find it after searching for a little bit of time as you can see it is this one. But you can use any of these ones that are close by just because they will all do the same effect. Once you guys have selected your brush. You want to make sure that your foreground color.
Here is selected as a full black color. If it isn t already so just do that go ahead and press. Ok. And now you can add the brush effect so to use the brush elitch we just need to click on your screen.
We can go ahead and rotate these after we are finished so just click on your screen add the brush effects it will look something similar to this once you are done. And then you can press ctrl t of course and rotate those just so it makes it obviously fit the text and you can also enlarge them if you do need to so. I m just going to enlarge them there and as you can see it s not going to look identical to mine. But it will look something similar so once you have done this you want to add a black texture to the brush.
So i m going to go over to google images here and just type in a black texture in my opinion the first one does look the best on this but you can search just find a different one if you need to but i m just obviously for the sake of the tutorial. Only use the first one so i m going to right click. It go to copy image go back into photoshop and press control v. On my keyboard.
This is the right side so we don t need to decrease the size of it so i m just going to right click it go to create clipping mask. And as you can see it will create that clipping mask onto the layer for this you don t actually need to lower down the opacity of this layer just because it is perfect so i m going to keep it on 100. But if you do feel the need to you cannot see lower down the opacity. If you want so once you guys have done this we are going to add some social media.
Text as you can see here. This is where it s going to go so i m just going to make a brand new text layer as you can see here to select anywhere on your screen and type in your text. So i ve just typed in social media. Text and now you can just change the font to whatever you want once you guys have done this you can lower down the size of it make it kind of small you don t really want it to be too big and too overpowering and what you have done that you can of course just put it wherever you want in my opinion.
It looks kind of nice here. And as you can see it would just add some nice extra text to your header. So guys once you have done that we need to add our brightness and contrast. So go up to the top layer.
Here go down to the bottom now..
And just select those color corrections go to brightness and contrast. It will open up a separate tab and now what you want to do is just decrease. The brightness to minus 30. And as you can see you will see more of the picture.
Once you do this it does look really nice now so i m just going to exit out with that now what you want to do is do another brightness and contrast. So i m going to select this go to brightness and contrast once again this time make the brightness 21. That was it so minus 21. And make the contrast.
I m going to see a 90 and as you can see this will make the header look even nicer and in my opinion. It looks really good now so guys once you have done this you now want to add some black on these sides so using the brush tool. So i m going to make a prime you layer here go to the brush tool on the left hand side get rid of this brush. You want to just make sure you have a normal 0.
Hardness brush and the size is on around about 800 make sure also the foreground color is selected as black and now you just want to go using your brush tool. And just highlight the black on each sides of the header. Once you have done this you can now lower down the opacity to whatever you want it really doesn t matter i m lowering mine down to 20 now it s good once you guys have done this you want to make a brand new layer once again this time grab a smaller brush size. So i m going to grab one of runabout 139 and add a black brush effect once again but of course.
It s going to be smaller. So i m going to make this one more time and just lower down the opacity of this once again to whatever you want so guys now. What you want to do is make a brand new layer once again we re going to add a white brush at the top. So i m going to make the brush size around about 800 in size make sure obviously.
It s 0 hardness. But this time make sure your foreground color is selected as black and now you just want to select the top of your header. And as you can see it will add a nice white effect. So i m going to lower down.
The opacity of this i m going to say around about 50 will look good that looks really nice so now. What i m going to do is make a brand new layer once again decrease. The brush size to around about 500. This time.
And as you can see it will obviously be smaller keep the white color and then using your mouse just hit random places on your header. As you can see it will just highlight them so once you have it done that you can now go to your blending option and now select screen and as you can see this will obviously lower down the opacity slightly. But you will of course need to lower it down even more so i m going to lower down my opacity of this layer. I m going to say around about 34 that looks good now you are almost done it you need to add the final effects.
So to do this press shift on the top layer shift on the bottom layer and then next to the color corrections. You want to press. The group icon and that will group all of your layers into one once you guys have done this you want to press ctrl j. On your keyboard.
And then press ctrl e. And then ctrl j. Once again and as you can see that will merge the layers and also duplicate the merge layer. So now what we want to do is go to filter here at the top select other go to high pass.
This will open up a separate tab. We can just press. Ok now select the blending option mode as overlay and this will make it look really nice you can keep it on 100 if you wish i m gonna lower mine down to around about 60 that looks good i m gonna keep mine on 60 once you guys have done this you want to press ctrl on the top layer. This time control on the bottom layer.
And then press ctrl e. Once. Again. Once.
You have done that you want to press..
Ctrl. J. Again. This time go to filter select blur at the top gives.
You gaussian. Blur make sure your radius is on a run about 5 mm of 45. Press. Ok.
Once you have done this and now go over to your eraser tool. Once you are on your eraser tool. Make sure these size is on around about 400. I d say now you just want to erase out your main parts of the header just to exclude obviously the sides just because we do want those blurred.
So i m just going to erase off random parts as you can see here using my mouse. Once you guys have done this you want to press control on that top layer control on the bottom. And then press ctrl e. And ctrl j.
One. Last time once you guys do this you want to double click on your second duplicated layer you want to go over to the advanced blending which is going to be on the first page and then just deselect green and blue and as you can see this will just make the layer red press. Ok once you have done this now go to the move tool. And then using your keyboards.
You want to press. The move arrows or c. Twice. So you can press.
It 1 2. And as you can see it will create that nice glitch effect in my opinion this looks really nice. But of course you can actually remove this if you want i just think it looks nice on this header itself and then that is it guys. So you have finished the header.
You can press. Ctrl e. And merge both of these once again. And then it just make the opacity 99 and then of course.
It s going to be high quality on your twitter. If you didn t know we re really making it 99 opacity is going to increase the quality. I don t and why it does. But it does anyway anyways guys that is it for the video.
If you do enjoy make sure together like i would really appreciate if i did go too fast. I really do apologize i try to make it as basic and beginner as possible also. Guys we are getting even closer to 10k run about 96. K.
