how long does it take to get ead card after card production ordered This is a topic that many people are looking for. newyorkcityvoices.org is a channel providing useful information about learning, life, digital marketing and online courses …. it will help you have an overview and solid multi-faceted knowledge . Today, newyorkcityvoices.org would like to introduce to you USCIS Update: Green Card Production Backlog, EAD Card Delays and USCIS Furloughs. Following along are instructions in the video below:
Troubles of the uscis continue the uscis now has a green card and ead. Printing printing backup a backlog of. 50000 green cards and 75000.
Ead cards that need to printed and mailed out to people that have already been approved lets talk about whats going on how this might impact you and how long this might last for more updates like this subscribe to our channel and hit the bell to be notified when i post a new video now just so were clear. Im talking about the physical production of green cards and ead cards. These cards are issued after an application is approved so you can still continue to file forms like the i 130 485 765 and so on.
But if you are near the end of your process. And expecting an approval soon whether its for a first time ead card or green card or a renewal. You will not get your physical card as quickly as people used to not long ago.
Green cards were printed within 48 hours of someone getting approved and mailed soon after so heres whats going on now until mid june. The uscis outsourced. The production of green cards and ead cards to an outside company in mid june.
This contract expired and the uscis decided to move production in house. But they say that due to their financial problems. Theyve had to scale back production.
They have two facilities for printing cards one in missouri and one in kentucky. The kentucky facility has been shut down and the one in missouri is operating at reduced capacity. Now.
Why is this a problem under us law permanent residents are required to carry their green card at all times as proof of their status in the us now when i had a green card. I didnt carry my green card at all times. But more importantly you need the physical card for travel or when youre applying for jobs.
Similarly international students refugees and other eligible immigrants are issued ead cards that allow them to work temporarily in the us without these physical cards. Some of them may not be able to accept jobs or continue working in existing jobs. Now some people with ead cards may continue to work for 180 days with an expired ead.
If a renewal application was filed before the expiration date. If your ead is about to expire.
And you have filed a renewal application. I would recommend speaking with an immigration attorney to see if you qualify for the 180 day grace period. As it depends on which immigration status you hold even with this grace period.
Ead card holders may still face an interruption if this printing problem isnt solved soon for green card holders that need their physical green card to travel in the past you could schedule an appointment with a local field office and get an i 551 stamp in your passport. Which served as proof of your permanent residence. Which you could use to reenter the country if youre in a situation.
Where you dont have a valid green card and need to travel you can try and call the uscis contact center to see if they will give you an appointment. So that you can go to a field office and get this i 551 stamp. Until recently they were only offering emergency appointments.
So it may not be possible. But its certainly worth a phone call now how long will this printing backlog continue. Well.
This backup is related to the usciss financial troubles recently the uscis sent furlough notices to 13400 of its employees. They will be temporarily laid off on august 3rd. If emergency funding doesnt come through they will be furloughed for at least 30 days.
But not more than 90 days. If this happens. The agency will have to continue operations without almost 75 of its staff and in this scenario.
I dont see how theyre going to be able to ramp up card production. But this may not happen in the next week or two well have a better picture of how things are looking for the uscis to receive the funds that theyve asked of congress so far it doesnt sound too promising. But we still have a couple weeks to go im keeping an eye on the bill.
Thats been introduced to congress related to this so ill post an update. When i see any movement or hear more about it. If you found this video helpful hit the like button below subscribe to our channel and share this with anyone that might find it helpful.
