“How s it going guys. Mr. Boss for the win here and in today s s red dead redemption. 2.
Video. We are gonna be finding out if arthur can to black water and possibly stumble across the money that dutch and the rest of the gang had to hide and stash away after the failed ferry job heist. So we re gonna be going over a couple of things in this video today. But what prompted me to investigate this was sort of relooking back at arthur s journal.
Now arthur actually wrote about his experiences before the blackwater ferry heist and even before the gang sort of starts their journey and where we pick things up sort of in chapter. 1. As they re heading to the grizzlies and heading to colter to seek shelter. So you can actually view this.
If you go to the very start of arthur s journal and there s a couple of things here that are kind of interesting now if you are interested in the complete story of blackwater like what happened before the gang left. I ll leave the link to that video in the description. We re not going to be going over the lore of that but mainly just what arthur has wrote down in his journal. So the first thing.
You can see here is a sketched sort of bird s eye view map of blackwater you can see the streets you can see the water. And you can see one main building in particular. I think that s like the capital or the mayor s building or mayor s office. Who or whatever.
The case is again that seems to be a rough sketch rough drawing and as you flip through the journal pages. You ll notice that arthur will either draw parts of black. Water or recall events that occurred before the actual black water fairy job happened and again if you guys are interested check that link out in the description. It goes over everything in detail.
So the real photo that i m interested in is the final one that he draws right before we actually pick up in chapter. One. It is a more completed version of the black water map and this time it has an x drawn over it i m assuming..

It s because the black water plans have since failed and they are no longer there. But you can see that arthur is filled in a lot of the buildings. There s a lot more detail. There and one thing in particular there seems to be like a money sign with an x located really close to it and there s that old timey expression with dealing with treasure maps and treasure hunts x.
Marks. The spot. So you can see that there is a money sign on a building which i m pursuing is a bank. But could also be the location of where dutch stored the money and then there s an x right next to it it s the only building in the game.
That has like an x next to it. So that s kind of interesting. So we all know by the end of the game dutch has somehow gotten the money out of blackwater and has hidden it in the caves in beaver hollow. So i wanted to find out well what would happen if we went to blackwater before any of those events transpired could we potentially find the same chest.
That s found in beaver hollow. Now the only problem with that and this is another experiment that we re gonna be diving into in this video today. I don t know how many of you guys have tried to go to blackwater or even parts of new austin as arthur. But it typically does not work out all that well now you can venture into the areas of west elizabeth.
And even new austin a bit without becoming wanted. But as soon as you for the most part go into a populated area. Where there s going to be other lawmen. You do not stand a chance of surviving so you can see what i ve done here as arthur you know i m i m riding into blackwater and all seems to be going well except we reach sort of a critical point right when i like enter.
The city. You can see about a thousand lawmen you know get on me all at once and there is no surviving this the only way you would survive. This is if you had cheats or if you were to just like hide in a corner consistently using like health cures and stuff like that so it s not possible for arthur to freely explore. But it did give me the opportunity to sort of check out the area in which he was sort of circling on his map.
And believe it or not there s not really a difference between the black water that arthur can experience in 1899 and the black water. The john is able to freely travel in in 1907. So there s not a ton differences right there..

But it proves the point that arthur isn t able to freely explore around black water so his chances of being able to find something like this would be incredibly unlikely now another reason. I was interested in exploring black water as arthur and by the way apparently there are some glitches that you can do or could do i think rockstar might have actually patched them that would allow you to go to new austin as arthur. But i m not sure if there s any recent versions of those so i didn t try any of them in this video. If you want to replicate that for yourself.
That s something you might want to end up trying so that you don t have to deal with the law on you. But another reason why i was interested in coming to black water was a line that jack marston. Said in the mission of fisher of men arthur is taking jack fishing and he says something interesting about their time in blackwater music. We re not this is our spot for now anyway.
I forgot a storybook there we left so quick. I m sure someone can get you another storybook. We ll see fish to catch first so as you guys heard there jack mentions that he misses the old camp near blackwater and arthur has to explain to him that they aren t going to be going back there anytime soon. I found that to be particularly interesting is there a camp that can be found somewhere around blackwater that might have the remnants of the old gang that would be super cool to explore like could we find it would there be old belongings.
There like jack said. So what i wanted to do next was returned to blackwater as john. So that we could more freely explore the area and based off of what arthur drew in his journal.
And what we can see is john i m pretty positive that the money sign he had drawn on that make ship map of blackwater is indeed the bank. I mean that would make sense to indicate a bank with a money sign. But i did wanted to see like if there was anything inside. So we use the pistol and lantern glitch.
We got inside and unfortunately. There s no interior. The inside of this bank is completely blank. Now eventually you do go on the inside of this bank in red dead redemption.
The first one that came out dutch actually is like barricaded in here. When you re trying to capture him. But there is no interior in red dead redemption..

So that is a bit strange and as far as the x. That was sort of located on the northern side of it i m not too sure what would be there because as you can see it s just like little tents and huts and wooden shacks doesn t seem like there is a treasure buried. There now. There s a lot of different theories.
As to what really happened to the blackwater money the first theory is that dutch never left it behind in black water at all and that he had held on to it the entire time. And this makes sense as a part of his master plan. Because his objective. Really is just to use everyone and for him to ultimately escape.
So if he just held on to the money. And told. Everyone that the cash was in black water. I mean that would be the perfect way to hide it in plain sight.
And we sort of see that in chapter. 6. When john marston even points out that dutch is getting lazier and lazier that he s just hiding the money closer to camp. So there s a chance that the money was never in black water or number two that it was actually hidden in black water.
And dutch was the only one who knew about it now that seems a bit unlikely just because i m sure he had help. But that also raises the question where was the money buried. You wouldn t think that it would be buried in a place that could be uprooted or destroyed. Like a bank or a building.
My theory that i ve had is that it s buried in his mother s grave which we know can be found in the blackwater cemetery. Most graves are not dug up so that would be the perfect place to store the cash now. It also begs the question did arthur know that the money was in black water or was. He fed the same story that it was in black water because oftentimes throughout the game.
And throughout the stories. Whenever someone asked arthur about the black water money. He always says..

It s not safe to go back. There not that he wouldn t want to go back. There so i don t know if that s just splitting hairs. If that s an insignificant detail.
But it is something interesting to point out so long story short that s what happens if you try to go back to black water. As arthur. Some of you guys have probably never tried it just because you see the sort of red wanted dead or alive area and think to yourself. That s probably not worth it at the end of the day.
It s really not i was able to explore a little bit. But i certainly wasn t able to discover the location of the money. Even if it did sort of match up with what arthur wrote in his journal. So there s no way to get it early there s no way to you know rewrite the history of the entire story of red dead redemption by taking the cash all for yourself that would be neat.
If there was like some little alternative ending. Where you could just end up with all 40. Something thousand dollars of it you know in chapter two that d be pretty funny. But that s all the information that i ve got for you guys in this video today it was a really fun experiment.
